NEWINGTON from the King. Sidgar? of Sibertswold held it from Queen Edith. Then

in lordship is at a revenue for 60s. In this manor 10 villagers with 84
smallholders have 5 ploughs. Meadow, 12 acres; 4 woodland pig pastures pay 30
pigs from pasturage. A fishery which serves the hall; 2 slaves; a very small
wood for fencing. To this manor belong 4 sites in the City of Canterbury and 2
in Rochester which paid 64d. From the manor of Milton Regis a customary due is
paid in Newington, that is 28 weys of cheeses; from the 28 sulungs of Milton
Regis £10 10s belong in Newington; from the other part of 9 sulungs of Milton
Regis which belong in Newington 28 1/2 weys of cheeses; 58s of tribute from
these 9 sulungs; from these 9 sulungs Sidgar? paid cartage to Milton Regis. 3
pig pastures of this manor which were there before 1066, as the Hundred
testifies, are outside it. Value of the whole manor before 1066 £40; later £36;
now £34. The Archbishop of Canterbury has £6 from it; the Bishop of Bayeux has 3
pig pastures. Value 40s. Geoffrey of Rots holds 1 yoke of the land of this
manor; value 10s. Adam son of Hubert has as much woodland as produces 40d a year.
