Value before 1066, £60; as much when Haimo the sheriff acquired it; now it is
valued by the English at £60; but the French reeve who holds at a revenue says
that its value is £90. However, he pays from this manor £70 weighed and 111s of
pence at 20d to the ora, and £7 and 26d at face value. In addition to this it
pays the sheriff 100s. The men of the Hundred testify that from this manor of
the King's have been taken 1 meadow, 1 alder grove, 1 mill and 20 acres of land
and furthermore as much meadow as belongs to 10 acres of land. All of these were
in King Edward's revenue while he was alive. Value of this, 20s. However, they
say that Osward of Norton, then sheriff, leased them to Alstan, reeve of London.
Now Helto the steward and his nephew hold them.
They also testify that Hawley has been taken from this manor. It answered for
1/2 sulung. The sheriff held this land. When he lost the sheriffdom, it stayed
in the King's revenue. It remained so after King Edward's death. Now Hugh of
Port holds it with 54 acres of land more. Value of the whole, £15.
From the same manor of the King 6 acres of land have been taken and a wood which
Osward the sheriff also placed outside the manor through a pledge of 40s. The
Bishop of Rochester holds the church of this manor. Value 60s. As well as this
there are a further 3 small churches.

King William holds AYLESFORD. It answers for 1 sulung. Land for 15 ploughs. In
lordship 3 ploughs. 40 villagers with 5 smallholders have 15 ploughs. 8 slaves;
a mill at 40d; meadow, 43 acres; woodland, 70 pigs. Total value before 1066,
£15; as much when Haimo the sheriff acquired it; value now £20; however it pays
£31; the sheriff has £3 from it. Ansgot of Rochester holds as much of the
land of this manor as is valued at £7 near Rochester. The Bishop of Rochester
also holds as much of this land as is valued at 17s 4d in exchange for the land
on which the castle is situated.

32 fisheries at 22s 8d; from the tolls, 40s; from the pasture, 13s 4d; woodland,
220 pigs. Walter's men pay 50s for Escorts and cartage. In this manor, 10
slaves. Total value before 1066, £200 at face value; as much when Haimo the
sheriff acquired it; now the same. Hugh of Port holds 8 sulungs and 1 yoke of
this manor, which were with the other sulungs before 1066 in customary payment.
He has 3 ploughs in lordship. Value of this land which Hugh of Port holds, £20,
which are accounted in the £200 of the whole manor of Milton [Regis]. Its holder
pays £140 fired and weighed, and in addition £15 6s less 2d at face value. The
reeve gives Haimo the sheriff £12. Wadard of Cogges has as much of the King's
woodland as pays 16d a year. He holds 1/2 a pig pasture which a villager held
before 1066. Alnoth the noble of Kent took away 2 parts from a villager by
force. The Abbot of St Augustine's holds the churches and tithes of this manor;
40s from 4 sulungs of the King go to him.
