NORMAN D'ARCY.

From Arci, Normandy. Norman d'Arcy held direct from the king thirty-three lordships in Lincolnshire, of which Nocton was the chief seat of his barony where his son Robert founded an Augustinian priory. Camden compiled a pedigree which is still in possession of the family, which descends from the celebrated John, lord D'Arcy, summoned to parliament in 1322. The name is recorded by Holinshed, Duchesne, Leland, Worcester, Guillaume Tailleur and Dives.
