GUILLAUME D'AUDRIEU.
From Audrieu, canton of Tilly-sur-Seulles, near Caen, which the family held from the see of Bayeux. In 1083 William de Aldreio (Audrieu) held lands in Wiltshire, where he was a sub-tenant holding under William d'Eu (Ex. Domesd.). D'Anisy and de Ste-Marie in the Recherches sur le Domesday are of the opinion that he followed duke William to the conquest from which time the family occurs in England; Roger de Adrieu held lands in Durham in 1183, also in Normandy. The foundation charter of the prebend de Aldreio made in 1153 by Philip, bishop de Bayeux, was confirmed by the pope Eugene III in 1154. It is presumed that this feudatory was a descendant of the first lords of Audrieu. The Dives roll records Guillaume d'Audrieu.
