GUILLAUME DE BRAI.

From Bray, near Evreux, Normandy. Milo de Brai, Milo the Great or Miles, lord of Mont Cheri and Brai-sur-Seine, father of Guy Troussel, married c. 1070 Litheuil, hereditary viscountess of Troyes, and founded in 1064 the priory of Longpont. This family was related to the Gournays and Guillaume de Brai is probably the "sire de Brai" who accompanied old Hugue de Gournay and his son Hugue to Hastings. While he is not mentioned in Domesday, he was one of the subscribing witnesses to the charter of Battle abbey in 1088. The family appears in England for several centuries thereafter in Winchester, Cambridge, Bedford and Devon.
