LE SEIGNEUR DE BRECEY.

From Brecy, near Caen. Three noble families of this name existed in Normandy and Radulphus de Braceio, who occurred in a Norman charter of 1082, was probably the member of the family at the conquest. William, his son, held Wisteston in Cheshire of the barony of Nantwich, Robert his grandson, held three knights' fees in that county, from William Malbank, baron of Nantwich, his uncle. There were many branches of the family, which spread in different parts of England, from whence the Brasseys of to-day are descended.
