GILBERT DE COLVILLE

Gilbert de Colavilla, or Colvile, accompanied Duke William from Normandy (where a town still bears the name), and was patriarch of the many eminent families of Colvile, both in England and Scotland; in the latter country ennobled as Barons of Culross. The representative of the Colviles of Newton, co. Norfolk, the chief English line, is now represented by CHARLES ROBERT COLVILE, Esq., of Duffield Hall and Lullington, co. Derby, only son of the late Sir Charles Henry Colvile.
