GUI DE CRAON.

This noble lord was descended from Hunrok, said to have been the last king of the Lombards, the son of Desiderius, and also from Adelbert II, king of Italy, 950, whose son became count of Burgundy, c. 1000. The latter's son, Reginald of Burgundy, had Robert, who received the barony of Craon in Anjou from Geoffry Martel in 1052, and from his elder son descended the barons of Craon. His younger son, Gui de Craon, accompanied the Conqueror to England and held sixty-one lordships by barony in 1086, and was ancestor of the Crowne family in England. Ingelram Peisson, temp. Henry I, acquired from de Craon lands in Neuton, Trinkingham and in Lincoln. The Dives roll carries Gui de Craon.
