Le sire de Cussy, from the parish of that name in Normandy, a companion of the Conqueror mentioned by l'abbe de La Rue in the Researches of the Bayeux Tapestry, possesses an obscure identity. Leopold Delisle likewise supports the opinion of the presence of an individual of this name at the conquest of England. The fee of Cussy was held by Gislebert de Montfichet in the latter part of the 12th century.
