RICHARD D'ENGAGNE.

From Engen or Ingen. near Boulogne. Richard accompanied the Conqueror to the conquest, and possessed a barony of the king in Buckingham with Redinger in Huntingdon (Domesday). Vitalis d'Ingen, his son, temp. Henry I, had Richard; who married a daughter of Alberic de Ver, earl of Oxford, and was baron of Blatherwick. From him descended the lords of Brickhill, Buckinghamshire, and in the female line the earls of Feversham and the baronets Duncombe. 'Norman People' says his brother William was at Hastings also. The name occurs on the rolls of Holinshed and Duchesne and Delisle records Richard.
