ROGER DE SAINT-GERMAIN.

Roger de Saint-Germain held lands in Suffolk in 1086 (Domesday), and the lands of Osbert de Saint-Germain were granted to Troarn abbey by Roger de Montgomery. The family was frequently mentioned in England and long flourished in Normandy. Mathew, Ralph and Richard de Saint-Germain appear in Normandy in 1198. William de Saint-Germain in England in 1199. Henry, John and Simon Germeyn appear also in 1272. The name occurs on the Researches of the Bayeux Tapestry by l'abbe de La Rue and is carried on the Dives list.
