ROBERT DE GRENVILLE.
From Grenneville in the Cotentin fief of the baron of Saint-Denis le Gaste, of which noble family this, with the family of Bigod, Trailly, Beauchamp, Montague, Saint-Denis and Meurdrac, are believed to have been branches, and the supposition is confirmed by their arms. Robert and his father, William de Grenville, witnessed a charter of Gautier Giffard for Bolbec abbey in 1061. The former accompanied the Conqueror to England and received from Gautier Giffard three knights' fees in Buckinghamshire which passed to his descendants. His son Richard married Isabel, daughter and eventual co-heir of Gautier Giffard I earl of Buckingham. --(This name appears on the Falaise Roll)
