HUBERT HEUSE.

An ancient French manuscript said to have been found in the abbey of Glastonbury when it was dissolved as well as the visitation of Dorset (1623); records that Hubert Heuse, a noble Norman, married the countess Helen, daughter of the fifth duke of Normandy (Richard III), and accompanied duke William to England, where he was invested with the dignity of high constable and extensive estates. From him descended the Husseys of Dorset and Kent. The name occurs on the rolls of Leland, Holinshed, Duchesne and Delisle.
