RAOUL TAILLEBOIS.

This warrior of Senlac was descended from the family of that name in the arrondissement of Domfront in the department of the Orne, Normandy, and must not be confused with the Angovine family. He was sheriff of Bedfordshire, held by barony and in chief and was undoubtedly the seignior of Taillebois, who came to the conquest under the banner of Henri de Domfront. His wife, Azelina, held from the king in Buckinghamshire and Cambridgeshire as widow and by barony in Bedfordshire. They left one daughter, who was a tenant-in-chief in Hertfordshire. A Raoul Taillebois occurs in the acts of Mont-Saint-Michel in 1172. His name appears on the Dives roll and Taillebois is carried by Duchesne and Scriven.
