NOEL DE TOENI.

Neel de Toeni, surnamed de Stafford, was probably a younger brother of Raoul the standard bearer. He held Dakelow, Gresley and some other manors in Derbyshire and Staffordshire, 1086. His son William founded an Augustinian priory temp. Henry I, and Roger, the next heir, was the first to bear the name of Gresley. From him descended the Gresleys, and Castle-Gresley took the name from his castle.
