Gilbert Tyson

Gilbert Tyson was recruited by Edward the Confessor, being one of the most powerful barons in Normandy. Edward offered him the barony of Alnwick in the county of Northumberland. Gilbert Tyson fought alongside King Harold in the Battle of Senlac and he along with many of his knights were killed.

Gilbert’s son, William later became Lord of Malton and Alnwick has a daughter named Alda who married Ivo de Vesci. They had an only daughter named Beatrice who married Eustace Fitz John and had a son William who became heir to the de Vesci estates.
