The Norwegian army is unaware of the approach of Harold’s forces. Harold witnesses Hardrada take a fall from his horse, which was interpreted as a bad omen. 20 men ride forward offering peace to Tostig and a third of the kingdom, if Harold’s brother were to join him. In the upper border appears Urðr, one of the three norns and in the lower border appears the rune Isa. The literal translation of Isa is ice and associated with the cold steel from which weapons are made.
