At a place called Broken Tower William becomes sick as well, possibly also with dysentery. William is sick for about a month but eventually recovers. The location of Broken Tower is not known, but it is thought that it might be somewhere in the vicinity of Sevenoaks or Maidstone. It is while William is sick that he instructs his men to make an assault on London. The cure for dysentery is as follows: ‘give the meats which restrain the wamb and do not scathe the maw, juice of colewort, at whiles peas broth, and vinegar, and porrum or leek sodden with waybroad, and old cheese sodden in goat’s milk, along with the grease of goat.’
