In this scene we see Williams men approaching the ford at Wallingford. Robert dOilley is known to have married Algitha, the daughter of Lord Wigod, Mayor of Wallingford and kinsman to Edward the Confessor. It is believed that Duke William attended the wedding of Robert and Algitha. After Wigods death, Robert was appointed lord of Wallingford and is believed to have become the third High Sheriff of Berkshire around this time. Oxford Castle was built under Roberts orders in 1071. Minstrels appear and merrymaking takes place in the lower border. To the end of this scene we see a secret meeting taking place at Berkhamsted.
