The second reliquary has been identified as the bulls eye reliquary. Mounted on a small stand and draped with a red cover, this reliquary contained in its centre a large precious stone (gemma speciosa et spatiosa). It is thought to have contained the bones of Saint Edmund and the relics of the martyred saints Rasyphus and Ravenmis. Today, their relics are to be found enshrined in the Cathedral of Bayeux. After Harold swears his Oath of Allegiance to William, he returns home to England. Harold, although unable to secure the release of his brother Wulfnoth, did manage to rescue his nephew Hakon. It is likely that Hakon accompanied Harold on his return journey to England.
