The lower part of this scene shows Edward’s body lying in state in the great hall of the Royal Palace of Westminster. Baldwin, Abbot of Bury St. Edmunds is officiating as attendants prepare Edward’s body for burial. In the upper part Harold’s sister Queen Edith, Edward’s wife, hears Edward’s final words.
