Boturich Castle was built in 1832, on the site of a previous castle. It sits above the loch about a mile north of Balloch Castle.

The Castle belonged to the Lennox and Buchanan families originally. In 1850 the Octagon Tower was added and became the principal entrance to the castle.

Sir Walter Scott visited Boturich Castle to research his novel Rob Roy.

Today The Castle, garden and estate are part of a beautiful 200-acre Country Park which stretches along the south-east shore of Loch Lomond.
