The restored castle is just visible through the trees. A number of quality private houses have been built around the castle to make an exclusive corner in West Lothian.

BRIDGECASTLE, LINLITHGOWSHIRE

Bridgecastle, an estate, with a mansion, an ancient castle, a hamlet, and a colliery in Torphiehen parish, Linlithgowshire. The mansion stands near the Blackstone and Boghead section of the Monkland railway, 2.5 miles NW of Bathgate, and lies around it some fine old trees. The ancient castle stands in the south-western vicinity of the mansion; was formerly the seat of the Earls of Linlithgow; and as to its mere walls, remains in nearly its original condition. The hamlet lies about half a mile SSW of the mansion.
