--FIONCHAIRN or FINCHAIRNE, Argyllshire.
A shattered ruin, occupying the summit of a rocky peninsula on the south-east side of Loch Awe, about three miles from Ford, at the head of the loch. It appears to have been a strong keep, but is now rent from top to bottom. The situation is fine, and the ruin forms a picturesque object in the landscape. The proprietor is said to have been a chief called MacMartin.
