Kielder Village is a small settlement in North Tynedale, Northumberland, England.
Located at the head of Kielder Water and in the north west of Kielder Forest,
the village is 3 miles (5 km) from the Scottish border.
This "Castle" was built in 1775 as a hunting lodge and country retreat for the Duke of Northumberland by the architect William Newton (1730-1798). An English architect who worked mainly in Newcastle on Tyne and the North East of England. It is now a visitor centre for Kielder Forest.
Minotaur Maze to be found in the grounds of Kielder Castle, was commissioned in 2003 by Kielder Partnership as part of their arts programme. The maze, designed by architect Nick Coombe, is built from unshaped rocks held together by gabions; the central tower is composed of fragments of recycled turquoise glass.
